Founded by a HUST alumnus who keeps a passion in architecture, the future Wenhua School of Architecture and Urban Design is sited on a current old factory. A renovation will soon take place, bringing a mixed-use building, meaning a hub for design major students and faculties, perhaps visitor with an interest in design.

As both a symbol and commentary on the conditions of the new school, the making of a new facility has the potential to literally embody the fundamental principles of HUST architecture and urban planning department: newness; uniqueness; interest; logic.



It is the optimistic contention of the design that the building will provide revolution to the current teaching methods in China. The project is to design a studio for architecture, art and urban design students.



The initial idea for the entire factory renovation were proposed by each of the 12 students. The group of two were assigned an area for detail concept design. Showing here is the part that consists a library, a sucker plaza and a cafe.
